The Wisconsin Society of American Foresters has been
approached by an anonymous donor passionate about
diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the forestry sector
in Wisconsin. The donor believes that the Society of American
Foresters, as Wisconsin’s forerunning professional forestry
organization, has the greatest potential to handle a project
devoted to enriching the sector through a unique DEI
initiative.
The donor has offered to give WI SAF $25,000 if the
organization can match it by June 1, 2021 with one catch:
the entirety of the initial match must come from WI SAF and
its members.
At this time, the WI SAF Board of Directors has voted to move
forward with this initiative and is supportive of its potential to
enrich our forestry sector. As an immediate response, a DEI
Committee has been established within WI SAF to handle
initiative logistics and planning.
As WI SAF embarks upon this exciting journey, please
consider donating to kick-start this incredible initiative – it
would not be possible without you!
Your support will help fund recruitment and retention
efforts from high school students to seasoned professionals
across the state of Wisconsin who would not ordinarily be
introduced to the field of forestry.
