As we begin this new decade, we recognize every generation of natural resource managers faces unique challenges. Building off the past, we strive to do our best today and work hard to set-up the next generation of professionals for success.
This series of webinars and a workshop is about exploring the future of Wisconsin’s forest resources and its managers, starting with a look back to the mid-1990s (25 years) and pivoting to a look ahead 25 years. “2020 Vison” over a fifty-year period.
Our goal is to have invited speakers provide their perspective on what we were thinking the future would like 25 years ago, what actually transpired over that time, (how good of prognosticators are we?) and then what we think the next 25 years might hold.
We don’t expect speakers to have definitive answers about what we will be facing in 2045; rather, we hope they will provide their insights, pose questions for all of us to ponder, and stimulate our collective thinking. This will set up the work we’ll do in the final webinar, a collaborative futuring workshop.
