Watch your local PBS listings in April for a television special titled “America’s First Forester: Carl Schenck and the Ashville Experiment.” This one-hour documentary looks at the role Carl Schenck, the German forester who began the first forestry school in the US and managed the Biltmore estate forests, played in American conservation history. The Forest History Society is a collaborator on the film. We’ll post another news item when the air dates have been announced.
